C – Never forget: Writing Web Content, a good content is the most important factor on the Internet!

It is a golden saying: Content is king. Yes, it is so. Either you write a content for pages, posts or only for a “simple” comment, your content must be well-structured and interesting, relevant one at the same time. One thing is also common: your web content must be based on your keywords you are targeting. We have talked about how to choose keywords, use keywords in Page Titles, write Description for your web page, how to use H tags. If you follow my guidance, writing web content it cannot be a hard task. Nevertheless, you might want to follow different rules for the different web content types. I’d like to show it to you and give some ideas for writing web content along a better way. Today I’d like to talk about writing web content for pages, posts and comments because these are the content types you meet more frequently in the everyday life. So, let’s begin it!

Writing content for web pages:

The content of your web page should be written about your products and their features, ideas. The best way you follow, if you highlight all gorgeous features of the thing(s) you promote or explain, introduce. During writing, you should keep the rules with regards to Title length (max. 60 characters incl. spaces), Description length (max. 150 characters, incl. spaces) and your Keywords length (max. 814 characters, incl spaces and commas), together with placing the necessary H tags (H1, H2, H3 and so on, if any). With the intention to sustain your visitors, your content should be interesting and attractive. Because this content is really about your product and service, you can give all details of them and display prices, availability data, reference links within your site (linkbacks=internal links, they are very useful fro SEO aspects) or to outer sites (outbound links: take care of their attribution such as “follow” or “nofollow”) as well. As a way to realize this linking structure you should use anchor text.
Advice: How to use anchor text? Anchor text is the text you use as the “cover” of your link. For example: if you want to say “SEO Basics”, you should place a link under this text: http://seoserviceguide.com. This is the internal linking, with dofollow attribute (we use this one on our on pages generally, if no other reason or good exception). If you want it to lead out of your site as a hyperlink to another site, then use that site address as the link. You can also assign “dofollow” or “nofollow” attribute to this outgoing link.
Your page is considered to a static one because you don’t change its content regularly.

What about the recommended length of your page content?

It is true, that the social web prefers content rich pages. The more you write, the more backlinks you will get. On the other hand, since Google ranks web pages for their content – and semantic writing – it is really worth better to create human readable contents than writing web content only for search engines (previously, search engines determined the rank almost by some SEO criteria such as keywords, and not the content relevance and srtucture). It is a proven facts, that web pages e.g. with 2.000 words usually get higher ranking than the ones below this number.

Writing content for posts:

The basic rules are the same that if you write a page concerning keywords, Title, Description, Meta tags.. One significant difference is, that the Title of your post is your H1 tag, so you have to begin your content a H2 tag as a subtitle.
In your post you can also highlight the greatest features of your products or services. The post can contain prices, availability data, links to other pages and sites. Never forget about internal linking (linkbacks with anchor text, see above), that is refer to your previously written pages or posts if they are relevant. As far as possible, always link back to your main page (Home Page)
Posts are considered to dynamic content. You can write posts e.g. if you want to announce some news, changes, occasion, it is entirely up to you.

What is the suggested length of a post?

A post under 250 words is not considered to a relevant one, so try to write more about your chosen topic. In my opinion, writing web content for a post in 500 words can be a good beginning to explain something interesting. Here it is also true, that the audience of various Social Sites – such as Facebook – and especially Google, the King of Search Engines prefer the longer and valuable content to a simple announcement.

If you visit another web site and read a page or post there, sometimes you feel that you have to say something or want to tell them your opinion. The best way is to write a comment on the page or post. This comment must be relevant to the topic. For instance, you cannot write a comment about “the weird behavior of your cat” if the post is about search engine optimization. Beyond the fact, that your authority – and additionally: your Website Authority – and knowledge can be questionable, you can easily be considered to a spammer.
It is also not suggested writing a long story as a comment with full of links, even if they were relevant to the topic. Self-advertisement is not the best way to follow during commenting. Nonetheless, you can add a – ONE – link back (this good for SEO, backlink) to your site with the goal that people, the readers could find you (if they are interested in your activity, or possibly want to read more about you or your product, service on your site).

What is the suggested length of a comment?

As I’ve mentioned above, Commenting is definitely NOT about writing a long fairy tale. Try to remain objective and concise. If you want to add emotional signals, you can do it, of course. Never forget: your personality may – or really will – come out of the comment. If you do want to leave a comment on other people’s posts, don’t hide yourself behind fictional usernames, take the responsibility for yourself. If you follow this way, the author of the particular post –you are commenting on  – will respect you and your comment will be published instead of trashing (or deleting because of spamming). I recommend to do your best, as you feel it at that moment. On thing is sure: avoid spamming, otherwise your comment will be deleted and even your IP can be banned.
The length of Facebook comments: Previously, the length of Facebook Post was limited to 500 characters. Nowadays, the length of Posts increases to 5.000 and comment lenght to 8.000 characters.
